Simon and Garfunkel tribute show coming to Fergus Grand Theatre

FERGUS – Music lovers won’t want to miss Old Friends: The Songs of Simon & Garfunkel, coming to the Fergus Grand Theatre on Nov. 5 at 2pm, show officials say.

With tickets going quickly, audiences are encouraged to get theirs soon for this “unforgettable musical celebration of one of the most beloved duos in music history,” officials say.

“Featuring soaring harmonies, beautiful acoustic guitar playing and timeless songwriting, Old Friends brings the music of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel to life in a spectacular two-act concert experience.”

Audiences can look forward to hits including Mrs. Robinson, The Sound of Silence, Homeward Bound, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Cecilia, Scarborough Fair, Feelin’ Groovy, and The Boxer, along with Paul Simon’s solo favourites such as Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, Kodachrome, and Slip Slidin’ Away.

The first act traces the story of Simon and Garfunkel, from their beginnings as school friends to their rise as one of the most successful acoustic duos of all time.

The second act recreates the magic of Paul Simon’s legendary 1981 Concert in Central Park, featuring a full band performing an exciting mix of Simon and Garfunkel classics and Paul Simon’s solo hits.

Starring David Skolnick as Paul Simon and Danny Zaidman as Art Garfunkel, the production also features John Collin on drums and Uri Kleinman on bass.

“Together, these talented musicians capture the sound, spirit and enduring appeal of the songs that have touched generations,” officials say.

“Whether you grew up with these classics or discovered them along the way, Old Friends offers a nostalgic journey through some of the greatest songs ever written.”

Tickets are $54 plus tax and are available on the Fergus theatre website.
