SHAFER, John William
After a long courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 20, 2023 in his 74th year. John is predeceased by his loving wife Margaret “Peggy” (2018). Loving Father of Jeff (Amy), Jennifer, Mark (Chelsea) and Travis (Natalie). Proud Grandfather of Paige, Avery, Payton, Ashley, Allison, Aubree, Brody and Miles. John was the son of the late William and Jean and son-in-law of Christine (the late David) all of Elora. Brother of Helen, the late Paul, Dianne and the late Joan. Family and friends may gather at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 7:00 pm – 9:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00am in the chapel of the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to Hospice Wellington in Guelph. Arrangements are entrusted with the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home- Fergus Chapel.
