Seniors Month celebrations at Victoria Park Seniors Centre

Seniors Celebration – On June 5, Fergus kicked off Seniors Month with a celebration at the Victoria Park Seniors Centre. Celebrations included music by the Centre’s choir and ukulele band, The Melody Makers, who began their performance by playing the song “Hallelujah.” Other songs were followed afterwards where the audience was encouraged to join in. The theme for Ontario’s Senior Month 2023 is “working for seniors” according to the provincial government’s website. The website adds that funding seniors active living centre programs promote wellness, social connections and education in communities across Ontario. To go along with Senior Month celebrations across Ontario, the provincial government is also accepting nominations for their Ontario Senior Achievement Award, which recognizes seniors who have made significant contributions to their communities. Deadline for nominations in June 15.
