Search is on for new executive director of Elora Centre for the Arts
ELORA – Lianne Carter is leaving the Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) and the board of directors is searching for a new executive director.
“Guided by a renewed strategic direction that embraces a broad portfolio of artistic disciplines, and following the completion of the building expansion, the centre is focused on serving an increasingly diverse community while ensuring long-term organizational focus and sustainability,” officials state in a press release announcing the change.
During her eight years as executive director, Carter led the ECFTA through a period of turnaround and growth.
Carter strengthened the centre’s brand and profile within the artistic community and the community-at-large with energy, creativity, presence and marketing savvy, officials say.
Most recently, Carter oversaw the successful completion of the centre’s multi-faceted expansion project, states the release.
“The board extends its sincere gratitude to Lianne for her dedication, contribution and realization of what the ECFTA is today,” officials say.
Effective Aug. 7, Elizabeth Edwards steps in as interim executive director, providing leadership continuity for the team and the community while the board conducts its search for the next executive director.
“Elizabeth is a respected arts leader with deep leadership experience in Canadian arts organizations including as executive director for the Art Dealers Association of Canada,” states the release.
The board will launch its search for the next executive director on Sept. 8.
The ECFTA is a community arts organization dedicated to inspiring creativity, fostering artistic excellence and connecting people through the arts.
Through exhibitions, education, performances and community programming, the centre serves residents and visitors while supporting artists from Centre Wellington and beyond.
