Scottish festival donates $21,000
FERGUS – The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games has donated $21,252 to local organizations.
Festival officials say they are “incredibly grateful ... for these wonderful partnerships.”
“We are truly proud of this community fundraising initiative which continues to grow and get better with each year,” said festival executive director Elizabeth Bender in a news release.
“We had 14 groups, with 247 volunteers in a variety of roles with 900-plus hours; we are thrilled to give back to their groups in recognition of their support.”
Margaret Silva, of beneficiary Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling Club, said, “We had loads of fun, met wonderful people and look forward to next year.”
The 82nd feastival and games is set to take place Aug. 13 to 15, 2027.
The following organizations received funds from the festival: Big Brother Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, Centre Wellington Food Bank, CW Pride, Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington, Elora Curling Club, Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling, Fergus Curling Club, Fergus Elora Rotary, Fergus and District Camera Club, Highland Rugby Club, Royal City Roller Derby, Volunteers in Action of CW Rotary and 4H Exchange.
