CLIFFORD - The Clifford Rotary Duck Race was held on June 1 at the parkette at the traffic lights in Clifford.

Rotary Duckie aka president Trish Palmer smiled under her duck mask stating,    “Welcome to the Annual Duck Race, but the first Virtual Duck Race as we can’t get near the creek to run the ducks due to the COVID-19 restraints. We will choose nine tickets, first to last. Let the race begin!”

Rotarian Bruce Kaufman drew the tickets, Rotarian Randy Ruetz filmed  the event for Facebook Live under the watchful eye of Rotarian Walt Berry, Trish Ruetz, and Rotarian John McVicar.

Rotarian Karen Dowler  recorded the winners.

The first winner Derek Ashton of Hanover won $200, with Stub Deeves of Hanover, Lisa Schaus of Clifford, Marg Shannon of Drew, Richard Baumgarten of Wiarton, Ryan  Letourneau of Hamilton, Bob Polfuss of Mildmay, and Vance Dettman of  Clifford all receiving $75.

Last and most considerate duck winner was Mary Lou Loos of Clifford.

Funds raised will help Rotary maintain John Hobelman Memorial Rotary Park. Members look forward to next year’s when the race can return to Old Rotary Park.
