MINTO – Town council has approved temporary road closures to facilitate upcoming community events in Harriston and Palmerston.

The Harriston Rising Committee is planning a Halloween Haunt on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8pm. At the Sept. 21 council meeting, clerk Annilene McRobb explained the event will include trick or treating, food trucks, outdoor seating and music and will require Elora Street South to be closed from Arthur Street to Mill Street in Harriston from 4 to 9pm allowing time for setup and take down.

The All Aboard Palmerston Committee is planning a Kris Kringle Outdoor Market on Nov. 25 from 4 to 8pm.

The event will include Christmas shopping, food trucks and fire pit/warming stations and will require a portion of James Street to be closed from Main Street to the end of the CIBC Parking Lot in Palmerston from 4 to 9pm allowing time for set up and takedown.

Council approved bylaws to permit the closures on both dates.
