Centre Wellington council has once more endorsed Riverfest 2015 as an event of significant community interest.

Following a brief report by managing director of community services Brian Detzler,  councillors approved the request received from Lot 18 Productions to apply for a special occasion permit through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission.

This year’s event is Aug. 14-16 in Bissell Park.

The township also authorized that on Aug. 15 Riverfest be allowed to operate one hour beyond 11pm until midnight so it is exempt from the township noise bylaw.

Lot 18 Productions is a local organization that holds an annual musical event from which part of the proceeds are assigned to the Centre Wellington Community Foundation to support cultural facilities and events in Centre Wellington.

Riverfest has taken place for the past six years. The first two years the event was held at the Elora Centre for the Arts.
