REDSHAW, Elizabeth “Liz” Ann

Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Redshaw was born in Ilford, Great Britain on April 16th, 1939, and passed away peacefully in her home on September 1st, 2026, in Fergus, Ontario. She completed her horsemanship training in England, and this is where her true love of horses began. Liz moved to Kettleby, Ontario in 1965 for a new beginning. The focus of her early career was training and riding thoroughbred horses for the Woodbine Racetrack. She joined the Joker’s Hill team where she broke in and cared for horses prior to opening her own boarding stable in Kettleby, Ontario. It was here that she met John and Ruth Pearson, who quickly became her Canadian family. She also met her life-long friend, Susan Blue in Kettleby, prior to moving to Fergus. Liz was an active member of the Canadian Equestrian Foundation, and judged many horse shows throughout Canada and the US. A tack room filled with prize ribbons at the farm in Fergus is evidence of Liz’s breeding expertise of some of the top Welsh ponies in North America. An avid gardener and longtime member of the Fergus Horticultural Society, Liz loved spending time gardening with friends and tending to the beautiful gardens on her own property. The Fergus farm gardens were a favourite stop on the Fergus Garden Tour. A lover of all animals, Liz had many prized chickens and welcomed many Jack Russel Terriers and German Shepherds into her family. She was also a founding member of the Colwyn Poultry Show along with Paul Homer. Entries and visitors were received from all across North America and the event was widely respected and attended by the local community. Liz will be lovingly remembered by her close friends Sue, Wendy, Gen, Joeleen, and Blake. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Liz’s life.
