Councillors here have no trouble supporting the “Little Church with the Big Heart”.

On Aug. 12 Puslinch council reviewed correspondence from Arkell United Church’s property committee chair Fern Donaldson.

Donaldson wrote “In July of this year, Arkell United Church put in a grant application to the New Horizons Senior Program.”

The federal government program provides funds for approved projects that benefit seniors.

“Recently, we received a request from them that we submit additional information to them in the form of letters of support from impartial groups within the community.”

The Arkell congregation hoped to access funds to renovate the building’s kitchen space so the facility may continue to serve the seniors’ community.

Donaldson added that Arkell United Church offers several programs that have a positive impact on the lives of seniors in the community.

Councillors had no problem issuing a letter of support for the church’s New Horizons grant application.
