Fire Chief Bob Gordon says four Puslinch firefighters were recognized for their service to the community.

Gordon said that on June 21, the Ontario Fire Marshall was hosting a special presentation in Kitchener to recognize long serving firefighters in the area.

The program recognizes firefighters with 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service.

“We have four firefighters who will receive a medal,” Gordon said. He added not all of them could attend.

John Uptegrove, Shawn Whaling, Mike McCrone and Scott Priest all  served for at least 25 years.

Gordon said some of the men have served longer terms, since the awards are not handed out each year.

Mayor Dennis Lever said he looked forward to the event.

“I’ve always been a supporter of long service awards,”  he said.
