Mayor Dennis Lever commented “It’s pretty warm out there, and I hear there’s been a ban on fire permits in the county.”

“It’s county wide,” explained Puslinch Fire Chief Bob Gordon. He said he had been called the previous day by the county coordinator on the issue. Gordon added the township has stopped issuing fire permits.

“It fits in with what we’re doing,” he added.

While he agreed this is a county-wide ban, Lever asked if the province ever gets involved to cover an area such as southern Ontario.

“They could, I guess,” responded Gordon.

Councillor Susan Fielding suggested that might be difficult, depending on the weather conditions.

Gordon explained there were over 100 forest fires in northern Ontario recently.
