PARSONS, Marie Joann

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marie Joann Parsons on January 9th, 2021 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus at the young age of 56. Marie was the proud mother of Sarah Machin (Brett), Jennifer Tompkins and Michael Tompkins. She adored and cherished her grandson, River, who meant the world to her. Marie is survived by her sisters Bonnie Chrisjohn, and Barb Cecevac (John), and her brother Todd Parson. Predeceased by her parents Larry and Ruby Parsons (nee Mercer), and her sister Beverly Semmens (Rob). Marie will be dearly missed by all her friends and family. Marie lived in Centre Wellington over the last 30 years. At the arena with her kids, or as a server in local restaurants and cafes throughout the community. Those who knew Marie could count on a caring, hard-working woman, greeting you with a friendly face, and ready to pick up a conversation wherever you left off. Over the last 10 years, Marie put up a long, courageous fight with cancer, many times doing treatments as she worked. In the last year, Marie’s cancer became more aggressive where she fought hard but felt it was time to surrender when the battle was too much, passing away, comfortably in her sleep. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses throughout Marie’s journey. A special thank you to all the nurses in the Green Unit at Groves Memorial Hospital. The last 3 months, you all made her feel comfortable and loved. A cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Marie’s honour to the Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation.
