Paid parking on pause in downtown Elora

ELORA – Centre Wellington has put a pause on paid parking in downtown Elora due to “weather-related challenges,” it states on its Facebook page.

Paid parking was to begin on Jan. 5 in two zones in downtown Elora.

Residents who registered their vehicles would not have to pay but visitors and unregistered vehicles would.

According to the Facebook post, “the go-live of the paid parking program has been postponed to allow additional time for signage installation and kiosk commissioning, as weather-related challenges have impacted program readiness.”

Originally, only two vehicles per household were to be exempt, but council directed staff at its Dec. 15 meeting to allow up to four vehicles per residential property.

Staff is using the pause to update the exemption platform to allow up to four licence plates per residential property, the post states.

A revised launch date for paid parking has not yet been finalized.
