Orton Canada Day celebration returns
ORTON – The Orton Community Association (OCA) is once again hosting its Canada Day celebration and dinner for community members.
The event will take place July 1 at the Orton Community Park, and will be a day-long event featuring games, a snack cart, a chicken dinner, 50/50 draw, silent auction and of course good-old Canadian pride.
“There will be a 50/50 draw ($2/ticket), Dunk Tank ($2/ball or 3/$5), snack booth, kids tent and other fun and games before the fireworks at dusk,” said OCA secretary Fiona Armbruster.”
“Anyone coming is encouraged to bring blankets or chairs.
“It is a cash event.”
The dunk tank is a new addition to this year’s event.
Those who have pre ordered their chicken dinner will enjoy a whole or half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, a roll and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
And of course, no Canada Day celebration would be complete without fireworks, which will kick off at dusk.
“The fireworks will be sponsored by Jay-Lor Fabricating this year, so no cost to come enjoy the display,” said Armbruster.
“We do welcome any donations that people would like to make to help support the Orton Community Association.”
