ORTELLI, Carol Louise

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Louise Ortelli at the Espanola Nursing Home on August 19, 2026, at the age of 63 years. Carol is survived by her husband of 42 years, Malcolm Ortelli of Espanola. Mother of Katrina Telfer of Brandon, MB, and grandmother of Benjamin, Emerson, Vincent, and Keeva Telfer, who were her greatest blessings. Sister of Wallace Metcalfe & Luce Mcfadden of Laverlochere, QC, and aunt of Sabrina Metcalfe and Jessie Metcalfe. Dear daughter-in-law to Beryl Ortelli and the late Lloyd Ortelli (1992), and sister-in-law to David Ortelli & Barb, Barbara Ortelli and the late Mark Ortelli (2024), and Scott Ortelli & Paula. Carol is also survived also by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol was born in Newmarket on January 29, 1963 to Lorne and Olive (Sheardowne) Metcalfe, and initially lived on a farm in Bradford. At a young age, the family purchased a farm in Harriston where she completed all of her education through grade 12. While in Harriston, Carol achieved her Bronze Level in swimming and spent many summers Lifeguarding at the Harriston Pool and teaching young children how to swim. Carol spent the majority of her working career managing Payroll and Benefits, and a number of years as Human Resources Manager.      After leaving her professional career, Carol worked for several years in the Home Care industry helping to enable clients to remain in their own homes by assisting with various tasks (shopping, cleaning, cooking, laundry) until she was forced to retire due to progressive complications from Multiple Sclerosis. She enjoyed working in her gardens, and after moving to Espanola in 2019, she would often be seen sitting on her back deck, coffee in hand (unless she misplaced it), watching the birds and simply enjoying her “little piece of paradise”. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at the Espanola Nursing Home for their dedicated and compassionate care that they provided for Carol each and every day of her stay. Interment will be held at Harriston Cemetery on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 1:00pm.      Following the interment, please join Carol’s family as they celebrate her life at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Memorial donations to the MS Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
