Organizers cancel Fergus Wedding Show
The wedding is off ... or in this case, the Fergus Wedding Show.
On Feb. 21, the Advertiser received word the event, slated for March 5, was cancelled for this year.
Official Linda Heathfield emailed, “It is with sadness that I must advise you that the Fergus Wedding Show has been cancelled for 2017.”
Later that night, Mary Lloyd of Ralph Bassett Associates, which sponsors the show, explained there were simply not enough vendors this year.
Lloyd attributes some of the decline to prospective brides and couples making online purchases rather than visiting wedding events.
She said it is a sad day, considering the Fergus Wedding Show has existed for two decades.
This year would have marked the 21st edition of the event, which traditionally has raised money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
