It’s going to be a bit brighter in the new year, now that the province has come through with OMPF (Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund) funding for the township.

Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj commented “we had good News this week with our OMPF funding notice.” She stated the township had anticipated a $745,000 reduction.

“Now we are going to be receiving $635,000, instead of getting a [full] reduction. So this is all good News for us.”

Therefore in the upcoming budget deliberations, “we’ll be looking for $123,000 approximately.

“We can certainly breathe a little bit better knowing they’ve come through, seeing how important the OMPF funding is to our municipality.”

She added the Minister of Finance forwarded a letter to the municipality, indicating the Ministry had reviewed the documents and saw how the reduction would impact the municipality.

“They have generously allowed us to continue with it.”
