Norwell high school to hold Relay for Life May 29
MINTO – Norwell District Secondary School is holding a Relay for Life fundraiser on May 29, and student Lexi Drummond made a special visit to town council to request support for the event.
She told council she dreams “of a world where cancer no longer effects the lives of people we love,” and asked the town to support the event by donating $500 and/or entering a team.
The event takes place at Between the Lines in Listowel from 12pm to 12am and will include a performance from a live band, a DJ, a movie, a photo booth, a raffle, dodgeball, a survivors reception and “much more,” Drummond said.
They are aiming to raise $25,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Minto Mayor Dave Turton said council would consider entering a team.
For more information or to register a team for a $20 registration fee visit ugdsb.ca/o/ndss/article/14867 for a $20 registration fee.
The registration fee includes a Relay for Life shirt, a luminary to decorate, pizza lunch and burger supper.
The first 150 students to register and pay receive a Dairy Queen free Blizzard coupon, and the next 100 students receive a free school cafeteria cookie.
Teams will nominate a captain and collect pledges, with a goal of $100 per person or $1,000 per team, Drummond said.
