Centre Wellington councillors have no objections to extended liquor licenced areas for two upcoming events at the Grand River Raceway.

On June 22, councillors here received extension requests from the raceway for its Industry Day event on Aug. 3 and the Grand River Agricultural Society’s Annual Truck and Tractor Pull on Aug. 22.

Correspondence to council from manager of marketing and communications Kelly Spencer described Industry Day as the raceway’s annual marquee event.

“The event features our signature races, the Battle of Waterloo and the Battle of the Belles. This event draws 5,000 visitors from across the province,” said Spencer.

The temporary liquor license extension would allow for two beer tents to be open and operational during the hours of the event.

The truck and tractor pull would follow a similar approach on Aug. 21 and 22.

Spencer stated, “This event draws 2,000 visitors from across the province.”

Councillors raised no objections to either request.
