Nexans celebrates milestone

Celebration – Nexans in Fergus celebrated a milestone on Dec. 4. In November the manufacturing facility reached one million hours, or about two and a half years, without a lost time injury. The last time the plant reached the milestone was in the 1980s.

“We’ve collectively, as a plant, worked for a million hours between everybody’s time sheets and their hours and nobody has had to take any time off of work because they’ve been injured here,” said health, safety and environment coordinator Samantha Elliott.

The last time the plant had a lost time injury was spring of 2017. Nexans celebrated with cake and draws for items like big screen TVs, iPads, tools, etc. While only about 50 per cent of the plant’s workforce attended the celebration, all employees received a thank you gift.
