FERGUS – The New to You charity thrift store is holding an auction of fine art and patrons have just two weeks to make their bids.
The auction opened Oct. 21 and it closes Nov. 1.
Groves Memorial Community Hospital had received donations of fine art and had it hanging in the hospital for a time.
But the hospital recently donated the art to New to You, which is now selling the pieces. Proceeds go back to the hospital.
The more valuable pieces will be up for auction. They include works by Joanne Harder, Yvette Miller, Karen Richardon, and Norman Knott, to name a few.
The opening bid is $20.
The other pieces will be priced and sold in the store.
Those who want to bid can sign their names in a book at the store or make their bids over the phone at 519-843-1425.
On Nov. 1, bidding closes and the highest bidder gets the piece.
Store manager Clare Palmer said the store has never received such a large donation before and officials are hopeful the artwork will net a windfall, which then goes to the hospital foundation.
In all, there are about 50 works of art for sale or auction.
