It may be a bit yet, before Bill White takes the reigns as Minto’s new Chief Administrative Officer/Clerk, but councillors here welcomed him and his wife, Terri, as the couple were formally introduced on Feb. 15.

Councillors here warmly greeted the pair who took the opportunity to meet with councillors prior to White’s officially assuming his duties this April.

Bill White said he is looking forward to joining Minto.

Currently, they live about 45 minutes away, where they take care of horses and Terri is a horse trainer.

“We have mostly older children and our family is across Canada and the U.S. We love the community and we look forward to being here.”

He said a number of factors prompted him to look at Minto.

“There’s lots of interesting work to be done here,” Bill said. “It’s a great community. There lot’s going on from economic development initiatives to cultural planning. Things like that are all of interest.”

Plus there is the rural community aspect, “we’d love to be a part of ... We’re really excited.”

As for specifics, Bill said “It’s a little early to tell yet. We’ll get our feet wet, and there’s still another month and a half before I start.

“Obviously the council is moving through it’s budget and they are also working on their strategic plan. All those things are of interest to us. We need to remain fiscally responsible and keep moving forward.”
