NAP, Calvin Henry Scott

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Calvin Nap, on July 30, 2026, age 51, at Guelph General Hospital. Beloved husband to Marie (nee Rider). Loving father to Alex (Jill) and Victoria. Proud son to Gerry and Sonya (nee Wyga). Dear brother to Richard, April (Bryan) and the late David (d. 1976).  Also survived by his father-in-law Dave Rider (Lynda), and sister-in-law Elizabeth. Will be sadly missed by all extended family and friends. A plumber by trade, Calvin spent the last several years working at Homewood Health Centre, where his strong work ethic and willingness to help others were evident every day. He was born a city kid but truly had the heart of a country boy. He found peace and happiness on his boat with rod in hand; fish hooked with the largest grin. His family was always his highest priority, and some of his favourite moments were spent gathered around a campfire with friends, sharing stories, laughter, and a glass of Forty Creek whisky. Calvin was excited when he discovered treasures and interesting finds, and his curiosity and playful nature made him a kid at heart throughout his life. He was always someone you could count on, and the first to lend a helping hand, never hesitating to support anyone in need. Music was another of Calvin’s great loves. Though he was happily off-key, he sang along to everything from Mumford & Sons and Queen to The Cranberries and countless other artists. He especially cherished songs that pulled on his heartstrings. Calvin’s warmth, generosity, sense of humour, and love for life will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, ON. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 6, 2026, from, 1:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday August 7, 2026, at 11:00am. Burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill, ON. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Guelph Wish Fund for Children would be greatly appreciated by the family.
