MURRAY, John Charles
Of Kenilworth passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Paula (Herriot) for 44 years. Dear father of Johnny and Jaclyn Murray of Oyen, Alberta, Courtney and Mark McPhedran of Rockwood, Jason and Paula Murray of Palmerston, and Ryan and Kayley Murray of Ayton. Cherished grandfather of Gauge, Garrett, Rayna, Hunter, Hudson, Colton, Avery, Colby, Charli, Emery, Addison, Brinley, Denver, Mallory, and Keaton. Brother of Beth and John Stinson of Kenilworth, Lorna and Harold Wilson of Kenilworth, Peter and Lori Murray of Kenilworth, Jean and Dan Whetham of Mount Forest, Phyllis and Joe Callaghan of Kenilworth, and the late Roy Murray in infancy. Brother-in-law of Jan and Don Wilson, the late Marsha Mitchell and Rick Mitchell, Marlin and Fran Herriot, Gordon Herriot and the late Sally Herriot, the late Rod Herriot, Ken Herriot and the late Gail Herriot. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Lorne and Kathleen Murray and in-laws Cecil and Jean Herriot. To honour John’s wishes cremation has taken place. You could often find John on a tractor (his favourite being a New Holland 5610) off to check and feed cows, tend to crops, and mend fences. He enjoyed cattle auction sales, watching western movies, and spending time with his grandchildren. Grandpa John was always ready with a tickle, a comfy lap to sit on and a sweet treat. A casual celebration of life will take place at the Arthur Royal Canadian Legion Branch 226, 281 George Street Arthur on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:00pm. As expressions of sympathy donations to Ronald McDonald House or the Kenilworth Public School nutrition program would be appreciated by the family.
