MUNCHOW, Ruth

Born October 10, 1933, passed away at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Loving mother and Omi to her daughter, Michelle Westermann (Corey Woodard) and her grandsons, Duncan and Erich Woodard. Predeceased by her husband, Henry Westermann, and her younger brother, Gerd. Ruth bravely made her way across the ocean from Germany to Canada as a young woman, alone, after having endured a war and losing both her parents and an older brother. Despite such difficult beginnings, she embraced life and love. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was happiest when she was preparing a home-cooked meal, or baking a cheesecake, or sewing a prom dress, or knitting a sweater. She will be fondly remembered as a generous, independent, and resilient woman who gave everything she had to those she loved. Much appreciation to the staff at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener for their care and tireless efforts to make her last few years safe and pleasant. Cremation has taken place.
