Moncrieffe named Erin’s VIP student
GUELPH – He’s honest, responsible and considerate of others.
That’s why staff at St. John Brebeuf Catholic school in Erin picked Omari Moncrieffe as this year’s VIP student.
Moncrieffe was lauded during a Wellington Catholic District School Board meeting on March 2.
Trustee Sebastian Dal Bo presented the award to Moncrieffe, and read a statement written by teachers and staff at the Erin school. They describe Moncrieffe’s steady effort, positive attitude and kind heart.
“He consistently comes to class prepared, completes his work with care, and uses his time wisely, showing a strong commitment to his learning and personal growth,” the letter states.
“Omari quietly supports those around him through his respectful behaviour, gentle encouragement and willingness to help, always treating others with kindness and compassion.”
They say the Grade 8 student is naturally reserved, but his confidence is growing and “his hard work and caring nature make him a valued and meaningful member of our school community.”
Guelph students Katie Shoemaker, from St. Paul Catholic school, and Benjamin Flanagan,
from Sacred Heart Catholic school, also received VIP awards during the meeting.
Board chair Vikki Dupuis said the awards are a testament to not only the students but also their parents and families.
“You may not recognize some of these words as your kids because maybe you don’t see that every day at home, but they see it in the schools,” she said. “Thank you for entrusting your children in Catholic education.”
