The Neubauer pit in Puslinch has taken another step forward as the Ministry of Natural Resources has given its approval on the proposal.

A Sept. 8 letter by MNR Guelph District manager Dave Marriott stated ministry staff completed a site investigation of the property to confirm staking of the Galt Moraine provincially significant Area of Natural Scientific Interest (ANSI). That investigation was completed Sept. 6 with participation of the Guelph District office and St. Marys Cement Inc.

MNR staff confirmed the ANSI boundary was properly staked.

Marriott noted that concerned parties who maintained objections to the Aggregate Resource Act license application - the County of Wellington, Puslinch Township, and one individual - had all withdrawn their objections.

Councillor Ken Roth said his understanding from previous meetings is the company had agreed to fence - not stakes - to mark the boundary.

Mayor Dennis Lever agreed that was his understanding as well. “CBM did commit to that,” he added.

Lever said the municipality would follow up on that issue.
