James Stephen Mitchell of Pike Lake passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 30, 2026 in his 87th year. Partner of the late Debbie Simard (January 16, 2026), and husband of the late Doreen (Williams) Mitchell (2013). Jim was the father of Stephen Mitchell of Cambridge, David and Maureen Mitchell of Hamilton, and Gordon Mitchell and Evelyn Mateo of Stouffville. Remembered by his grandchildren Krystal & Gary Cheddesingh, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Stephanie and Josh Clark, Savana Chester, and Cassandra Mitchell; and by his great-grandchildren Aliyah, Alyssa, Devonne, Arianna, Jordon, Mya, Emerson, Tristan and Sophia. Brother of Gail Leeks of Dorchester. Remembered by Debbie’s son Donat Simard and wife Ilene of Oakville, her siblings William & Lorna Madill of Ramara, Donna Gault of Port Hardy, B.C., and Kim Dunlop & Jeff Chaulk of Courtney, B.C., as well as by good friends of Jim and Monique Dunlop of Pike Lake. A ‘Come and Go’ gathering to celebrate and honour the lives of both James and Debbie will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 12:00 until 2:00pm. Interment and committal services will be held in Harriston Cemetery at 2:30pm with Rev. Jessica Cottrell officiating.  Reception at Harriston United Church will follow.
