Minto council has agreed to donate $500 to the Wellington County Farm and Home Safety Association.

Council agreed to make the donation at its Sept. 27 meeting, even though treasurer Gordon Duff pointed out it would put the town over its donation budget for the year.

Council allocates $8,000 for such donations and had already allocated $7,800 Duff reported.

“We have donated to this association occasionally in the past, but we’ve never given as much as $500,” said Duff.

Fisk asked if all the regular annual donation requests received by the town have already been dealt with.

Duff said he believed all the usual  donations were covered.

“They do good work. I think it’s an important group,” said councillor Ron Faulkner, who moved a resolution to approve the donation, which passed with only Fisk opposed.
