Minto staff remind residents when to expect mail-in ballots

MINTO – Residents here are being reminded to watch their mail for voting kits ahead of the Oct. 26 municipal election.

Clerk Annilene McRobb told council at its Sept. 8 meeting that Minto will once again use vote-by-mail, with voter kits expected to be mailed Sept. 24.

Residents who have not received a kit by Oct. 1 are encouraged to contact the municipal office to confirm they are on the voters’ list. Those who are not on the list can visit the office during regular business hours to be added and receive a voting kit.

The town will also offer several opportunities for residents to receive or drop off ballots: 

– Oct. 8 from 4 to 8pm at the Clifford Community Centre; 

– Oct. 13 from 4 to 8pm at the Harriston Arena; and 

– Oct. 14 from 4 to 8pm at the Palmerston Arena.

Residents can vote at those locations or return their ballot by mail. 

McRobb said ballots being returned by mail should be sent by Oct. 15. 

After that date, completed ballots can be dropped off at the municipal office during business hours or placed in its after-hours drop box.

Residents experiencing mobility issues or other difficulties getting out are encouraged to contact the town for assistance.

“Every vote counts,” McRobb said.
