MINTO – PA Day Camp has officially opened in Minto and the first day will be Jan. 30.

The camp programming is designed and offered to children ages four to 12 on professional activity days when students don’t attend school.

“Our camps run on every PA Day usually out of Harriston and sometimes out of Palmerston,” town director of community services Matt Lubbers told the Community News.

Camp day drop off runs from 8 to 9am with pick up from 4 to 5pm at the Harriston Arena (111 George St. S.).

Winter activities participants can expect include:

ice skating (bring own helmet/skates);

local library programs;

snowshoeing;

snow creations; and

themed games and arts and crafts.

“We’ve worked with our local conservation authority [in the past] and they’ve got some snow shows they lend out,” Lubbers said.

The camp has been active for about seven years and is well-attended. “We’ve never had to cancel due to a lack of interest,” Lubbers said.

The cost is $45 for the day.

“After Jan. 30 the next [PA day] is not till March Break,” he added.

Registration is required and can be accessed online at the town’s website at town.minto.on.ca.
