MINTO – Council here is concerned about the potential elimination of elected school board trustees.

It has endorsed a letter from the Municipality of Blue Water calling on the government of Ontario to “undertake a comprehensive, province-wide consultation process before moving forward with any changes to the governance structure of English public school boards.”

The letter is addressed to Premier Doug Ford and education minister Paul Calandra.

Councillor Paul Zimmerman said he thinks the elimination of trustees would be “completely wrong.”

Council voted in favour of endorsing the letter during a regular council meeting on April 7.
