A request for a handicapped parking space will lead to further discussions of accessibility at the Harriston public library.

The public works committee report to council here noted that following the request for signs, Public Works Director Norm Fisk directed that a sign be installed for the space next to the sidewalk.

Appropriate painting of the parking lot will take place later this year.

However, the issue led to the suggestion that further discussions be held with county representatives this year on general accessibility issues at the Harriston library.

The county has been working with municipalities through an accessibility committee, studying issues of access for those with disabilities.
