Minto confirms ‘excellent’ drinking water quality, proactive supply planning
MINTO – The Town of Minto is reporting “excellent” results from its annual drinking water system inspections and independent third-party drinking water quality management system, according to town officials.
The town’s drinking water systems in Clifford, Harriston, Minto Pines and Palmerston all received 100 per cent ratings from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), officials state in a press release.
The town also successfully completed its mandatory third-party Drinking Water Quality Management System audit, conducted by Intertek, with zero non-conformances.
“This is an excellent result and reflects the town’s commitment to maintaining strong operational practices, meeting regulatory requirements and providing safe, reliable drinking water,” the release continues.
“Our residents can be confident in the quality of their drinking water and the work being done to protect this essential service,” said Mayor Dave Turton. “These results reflect the dedication of our water department team and our commitment to responsible, long-term planning for our communities.”
The town is working to identify and develop potential new well sources in both Palmerston and Harriston, in advance of anticipated future needs to support the long-term reliability and sustainability of the town’s water supply.
Identifying and developing new water sources takes time, including technical investigations, regulatory approvals and infrastructure planning.
The Town of Minto thanks its water department staff for their professionalism and commitment to providing residents with safe, reliable drinking water every day.
