Minto Arts Gallery presents Looking Through the Glass with local stained glass artist Ed Allen
HARRISTON – The Minto Arts Gallery is set to present Looking Through the Glass by local stained glass artist Ed Allen.
The opening night reception is slated for Feb. 5 from 6:30 to 8pm at the gallery, which is wheelchair accessible, on the third floor of the Harriston Library.
Allen is originally from the Mapleton area where he resided on a family farm. He worked at the University of Guelph for many years as an assistant manager.
Later, he worked in carpentry and found he had free time in the winter to pursue other things.
In the late 1980s, his wife signed him up for a stained-glass art class on a whim and that’s how it all began.
It became his winter pastime as he continued taking courses to learn and grow his skills.
“His passion for stained glass art continues today and we are fortunate to be able to share in this unique artform,” officials say.
Allen is retired and living in the Mount Forest area, continuing to actively pursue his interest in stained glass art.
The show runs Feb. 5 to 27.
Gallery hours are:
- Tuesdays 6 to 8pm;
- Wednesdays 2 to 4pm;
- Thursdays 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm;
- Fridays 2 to 4pm; and
- Saturdays 11am to 1pm.
