GUELPH – Brampton and Peel Regional councillor Michael Palleschi was acclaimed as Chair of Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) at the board meeting held March 13.

He has been a member of CVC’s Board of Directors since 2015 and this marks his third term as chair.

 This follows approval from the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks for an exemption of the Conservation Authorities Act to allow up to three consecutive one-year terms for the chair. The current limit is set at two one-year terms.

 “I’m grateful for the confidence placed in me to continue as chair for a third term at such a pivotal moment for conservation authorities,” said Councillor Palleschi in a press release.

“With the Minister’s exemption, our board can maintain continuity. I remain committed to ensuring strong governance and a smooth path forward that protects our watershed, strengthens our partnerships, and supports the communities we serve.”

 The CVC Board of Directors also acclaimed Alvin Tedjo, Mississauga Ward 2 Councillor and Peel Regional Councillor as vice-chair.

 “I’m honoured to serve as vice-chair of Credit Valley Conservation and champion the value of CVC’s local expertise and conservation leadership across our communities,” said  Tedjo in a press release.

“CVC’s work is essential to supporting sustainable development, expanding access to greenspaces and delivering flood forecasting and warning.”

 Palleschi has served as a Brampton and Peel Regional Councillor for over 10 years. He has also served on the CVC Foundation Board. This is Tedjo’s first term as vice-chair.

He has been a member of CVC’s Board of Directors since January 2023.

 This year’s Board of Directors includes returning members from municipal councils throughout the watershed:

 – Tom Adams, Town of Oakville;

– Dipika Damerla, City of Mississauga;

– Stephen Dasko, City of Mississauga;

– Michael Dehn, Town of Erin;
