Meals on Wheels to resume service in Clifford on Sept. 2

CLIFFORD – For the first time in more than five months, Clifford Community Meals on Wheels will soon be offering meal deliveries.

The volunteer organization recently announced it will resume operations on Sept. 2.

“As the fall season approaches and with COVID-19 restrictions and protocols well in place, it may be appropriate to start up the delivery of meals again,” president Sharon Prieb stated.

Clifford Community Meals on Wheels put deliveries on hold in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group enlists volunteers to deliver meals to people in Clifford on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Meals are prepared by staff at Gramma Jo’s Restaurant and delivered in insulated trays at noon by volunteer drivers.

The volunteers then return the trays to Gramma Jo’s to be cleaned and sterilized.

Though many volunteers are finding more demands on their time, officials say new volunteer drivers have answered the call to drive.

“Volunteers truly are the heart and soul of the community,” stated past president Alieda Murray.

Anyone finding it difficult to prepare meals is invited to try Clifford Community Meals on Wheels.

Each client is required to register by leaving a message at 519-327-8899.
