Meals on Wheels group gathers for AGM

Directors, drivers, clients and guests recently gathered for the annual general meeting at Jamesway Manor here.

President Alieda Murray expressed appreciation for the dedicated people who delivered 853 meals throughout the year.

Phyllis Kaufman reported June had the least amount of meals to deliver at 43, and February was the busiest month with 96 deliveries.

Patrick Mullan reported owners Jim and Marlene Dennie are satisfied with the program. Gerald Hattle agreed the portions are generous and well worth the cost. Dorothy Domm noted the meals are immensely appreciated.

Meal carriers choose a day and deliver the meals on a three-month rotation. The committee could always use more drivers or spare drivers. There is also a need for transportation drivers to take people to appointments in nearby towns and also further afield. Fees and times are agreed upon between the driver and client.

Vic Palmer noted 44 volunteer hours were given for the community yard and bake sale. He said he is happy to continue co-ordinating the yard sale and already has items stored for this year’s event to be held June 4.

Long-time volunteer

After 30 years of volunteering, Marion Agla has resigned from the board. She was recognized for her years of dedication and her organization of the driver rotations.

The next annual general meeting will be held in January 2017 at Jamesway Manor.
