McMILLAN, Donald James “Jim”

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald James “Jim” McMillan, who passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on September 7th, 2026 in his 85th year. Jim lived in Puslinch for most of his life and was always active in the local community and Crieff Church. He was a proud founding member and first President of the Optimist Club of Puslinch, a member of the Masonic lodge and Puslinch Rec Committee. Predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Sylvia (nee Waud) in 1999. Jim is survived by his wife, Louise and especially enjoyed traveling with Louise in their 5th-wheel trailer, creating many wonderful memories together on the road. Jim was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He is survived by his son, Greg (Lisa) and daughter, Cindy (Ted); and his three adored grandchildren, Alexander, Zoe, and James. He was the eldest of a family of four children. He will be deeply missed by sister Bev (Jack - deceased) and brother Neil (Jill) and sister-in-law Nancy and their families. He is predeceased by his brother George. He will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews. His sense of humour, quick wit, helpful nature, and deep love for his family, friends and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him. Jim taught woodworking at White Oaks for over 30 years and enjoyed passing on his expertise. Visitation was held on Monday, September 14 at Wall-Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. A private service was held in Crieff at 12:30pm, followed by a reception with refreshments for all family and friends on Tuesday, September 15 from 2:00 to 5:00pm at the Puslinch Community Centre, 23 Brock Rd. S., Puslinch, to commemorate Jim’s life. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: Crieff Cemetery Board, In care of Hugh MacDonald, 4010 Sideroad 25 S., Puslinch N0B 2J0.
