McCOAG, Marie Roberte

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Roberte McCoag, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, artist, and friend. Roberte was the incredibly proud and loving mother of Ryan Spence and Braden Spence, and warmly welcomed Braden’s fiancée, Michaela Martin, and her family into her life. Above all else, Roberte treasured her family and the relationships she built and nurtured throughout her life. Roberte was predeceased by her mother, Germaine (nee Gignac) McCoag. She is lovingly remembered by her father, Royden McCoag; her siblings, Neil McCoag, Tom McCoag and his wife Joann, Therese McCoag, and Ida Brass and her husband Kerri; as well as her 13 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Roberte also shared a special and enduring relationship with the Spence family. Their support and friendship, and the relationships formed over many decades, meant a great deal to Roberte, Ryan, and Braden. The bonds between the two families were an important and cherished part of her life. Throughout her life, Roberte brought creativity, compassion, and dedication to everything she did. She was a devoted teacher who cared deeply about her students and an accomplished artist whose creativity was an essential part of who she was. Through both teaching and art, she shared her talents with others and left a lasting impression on the many people whose lives crossed her own. Those who knew Roberte will remember much more than her accomplishments. They will remember the relationships she formed, the people she cared for, her creativity, and, most of all, the love and pride she had for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories, lessons, artwork, and love she leaves behind will remain with those fortunate enough to have known her. Roberte’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported and cared for her throughout her journey, and to all those who surrounded Roberte, Ryan, Braden, and their family with love during an incredibly difficult time. A celebration of Roberte’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17th at Mulligans Pub in Mississauga. Address is 2458 Dundas St W, Mississauga. Celebration will start at 5:00pm until close. Words of Remembrance will begin at 6:00pm with a live band to follow. In keeping with Roberte’s wishes, those attending are encouraged to celebrate her life with colour rather than black — a fitting reflection of the accomplished artist she was and the colourful life she lived.
