McCLELLAND GILES, Suzanne
June 13, 1967 - August 13, 2026
In loving memory of Suzanne McClelland Giles (née Cope)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful and comfortable passing of Suzanne McClelland Giles (née Cope) of Elora on August 13, 2026, at Hospice Wellington in Guelph with her family by her side. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 35 years, Don Giles, her beloved daughters Kristen Kuenstling (Kory) and Jacqueline, and her loving sister Patti Ann Morland. Dear sister-in-law and caring aunt and great-aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Marilyn Cope, and her brother Anthony Cope. Suzanne was born June 13, 1967 in Toronto where she grew up in a golfing family. She enjoyed the sport throughout her life and proudly shared her passion for the game with her husband and daughters. In 1997, Suzanne and Don moved to Georgetown where they raised their family. She loved travelling with Don to watch their girls play in golf tournaments across Canada and the United States. Although humble, Suzanne was especially proud that she, Kristen and Jacqueline are all Women’s Club Champions at Cutten Fields in Guelph. In 2024, Suzanne enjoyed her own bucket-list round of golf at Cabot Cliffs in Inverness, NS with Don. Their day was capped off with a radiant sunset over the Northumberland Strait. During that trip to Cape Breton Island, they also walked scenic trails, viewed spectacular waterfalls, and relished in several more postcard sunsets. She was so joyous to take this trip and held it near to her heart. For nearly 11 years, Suzanne’s kindness, selflessness and grace fueled her fight against cancer. She remained humble, was a thoughtful listener, and had an unwavering commitment to her family. As a loving and proud wife and mother, being able to continue to see her daughters’ milestones was a large reason for her courage, determination, and resilience throughout her cancer journey. She accomplished her goals of celebrating elementary, high school and university graduations, travelling to golf tournaments, being part of Kristen’s marriage, and witnessing their growth as women. She will always be their biggest supporter in all that they do. Suzanne will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her family extends a heartfelt thanks to all staff at Juravinski Cancer Centre, her family physician, staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington, and everyone who continued to check in and brighten her day. A private interment will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery in Toronto, followed by a private celebration in her honour.
