McCallion to speak at mayor’s breakfast
ERIN - Former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion will be the guest speaker at the next breakfast meeting hosted by Erin Mayor Allan Alls.
It will be held at the Erin Legion on Oct. 4, starting at 7am. Tickets are $10, available at town hall or by emailing communications@erin.ca by Sept. 27.
McCallion and her husband Sam founded The Streetsville Booster newspaper in 1964 and she was elected mayor of Streetsville in 1970.
Known as Hurricane Hazel because of her outspoken style, McCallion was acclaimed to Mississauga council in 1976 and was mayor from 1978 until 2014.
