Master plans being prepared for towns

It will cost over $100,000 to cover expenses for master plans for water and sewer servicing in Wellington North Township.

The 2009 budget included money to revise the Mount Forest master plan and to develop one for Arthur for water and sewer services. Work on those projects was held off since there was an opportunity to apply for funding.

The report to council noted funding “unfortunately was turned down so now we need to proceed with this work.”

That includes $71,000 for work in Arthur and $46,000 for a Mount Forest plan.

BM Ross, an engineering firm, did the original plan for Mount Forest, so the committee recommended using them for the new work.

Since Triton Engineering had the background for the Arthur component, that company was recommended to undertake that work.

BM Ross confirmed it should be able to do the work within the budget while Triton prepared a proposal for the Arthur work to be done for $63,700, a lower amount.

While Mayor Mike Broomhead questioned the need to for a new Mount Forest plan, committee members believed it was important for future planning and development strategies.
