MARTIN, Bernice

Bernice was born a prairie girl in Rosthern, Saskatchewan to Robert and Lydia (Kreiter) Trippel, along with eleven brothers and sisters. She later moved to Fergus where she met and married Don Martin and started her family. Over the years Bernice worked at Savage Shoe, Geiger Monuments and Moore Business Forms. As life slowed down, her pastimes included watching the Toronto Blue Jays, bowling and needle point. Bernice made many friends through the years playing cards and darts at the Senior Centre. She enjoyed many trips to Western Canada to visit her family. Survived by her children Kim Gilkinson, Keith (Heather) Martin and daughter-in-law Jane Martin. Loved by many grandchildren and great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. Survived by siblings Don (Dianne), Mabel, Judy, Jim (Judy) and Rita. Predeceased by husband Don, son Wayne, son-in-law Kim Gilkinson, and her siblings Clarence, Leo, Joyce, June, Verna and Glen. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 12:00pm at Belsyde Cemetery (400 Thistle St, Fergus). A Celebration of Life will follow at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. South, Fergus) from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Centre Wellington Food Bank. Arrangements are entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home.
