MARRITT, David (Dave)

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David (Dave) Marritt of Elora on May 9, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on May 2, 1957, in Galt, Ontario, David was a successful and highly respected business owner. He pioneered straw mulching and seeding before partnering to create BOMAR Landscaping. A born entrepreneur, David had a deep passion for his friends, his family, and all things mechanical. Despite his many accomplishments and interests, nothing was more important to David than being a father. David is survived by his two children, Sadie (Drake) and Isaac, and the mother of his children and partner, Colleen Craig. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Laura), sister Robin, and brother Richard (Steven). David was the beloved son of the late William and Helen (Bulmer) Marritt. Never one to be idle, David also became a prominent figure in the go-karting community in Eastern Canada. He was the person everyone turned to with a problem, knowing they could count on his willingness to help, his humor, and the unique brand of common sense he brought to every task. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Fergus Legion, 500 Blair Street, Fergus, Ontario. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with words of remembrance beginning at 1:00pm. After the tributes, guests are welcome to stay, share memories, and enjoy refreshments together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Waterloo Regional Kart Club for prizes for the Dave Marritt Memorial Showdown Race Series.
