DRAYTON – Mapleton Safe Communities hosted a Safe Kids Day on May 24 in Drayton. About 100 people braved the cold, wet weather to learn about safety in many areas of everyday life. Representatives from farm safety, fire and paramedic services, police, GRCA and a car seat clinic were on hand to help kids and parents have a safe summer. Every child who gave a summer safety tip received a coupon for a free ice cream cone from a la mode. There was also lots of information for kids and adults in the form of puzzle books and information pamphlets, as well as giveaways from Mapleton Township.
