DRAYTON – With the municipal election approaching, candidates are polishing off their platforms and sharing campaign promises with curious voters.

In Mapleton, nine candidates are vying for four councillor positions, including incumbents Lori Woodham, Marlene Ottens and Mike Martin, as well as Alby Mbanjabahizi, Andy Knetsch, Doug Duimering, Jennifer Goertzen, Paul Snider and Robin Larkin.

Two people are running for mayor: incumbent Gregg Davidson and current councillor Amanda Reid.

The Mapleton Chamber of Commerce is holding a Meet the Candidates event at the Drayton Festival Theatre on Oct. 7 at 7pm.

“Doors open at 6:30, so come early to secure your seat,” organizers encourage.

“This is your chance to hear directly from the candidates running for office and ask them your burning questions.”

Questions will be taken in advance, including during the event, but no questions will be taken from the floor.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to make an informed decision in the upcoming election,” chamber officials encourage.
