MAPLETON – Businesses here are participating in a community challenge and working together to send help to the people of war-torn Ukraine.

TEB’s Convenience Plus kicked off the giving on March 15 with a Facebook challenge to Drayton Pharmasave to match the Moorefield store’s donation of children’s vitamins.

A later post invited interested Mapleton businesses to join in and challenge each other to match donations from among needed items listed by the Drayton Reform Church, which has been collecting items to send to Ukraine.

Numerous businesses have responded with a wide range of items, from toothbrushes and pain relievers to blankets and bandages.

“Every little bit helps Ukraine and also encourages Mapleton’s fabulous community spirit,” states a post from TEB owners Bethanne and Terrance Rumph.

The store has also offered to pick up items donated through the challenge and deliver them to the church to be included with the next shipment.
