Better before Liberals

Dear Editor:

What has Mark Carney accomplished for Canada?

Do we have a thriving economy?  No. Do we have a new pipeline in place? No. Do we have the minority government we voted in? No. Do we have a CUSMA deal with the U.S. and Mexico?  No.

Do we have lots of jobs for our young Canadians? No. Do we have immigration nearly stopped or greatly reduced to allow Canada to address housing issues, healthcare etc.? No. Do we have a better healthcare system, more Canadian doctors, more nurses, more hospitals throughout Canada? Or more schools for Canadian doctors to attend?  No.

Do we have a balanced budget? Definitely not! Spending has shot up tremendously. Do we have homelessness of Canadians under control? No. Do we have drug addiction and illegal drugs off the street? No. Do we have organized crime under control? No. Do we have criminals receiving sentences that keep them off the streets? No. Do we have foreign interference from China and other nations stopped? No. Have all Chinese police stations been removed from Canada? No, not that I know of.

Is Carney showing any restraint when flying for costs regarding large meal bills etc.?  No. Is Carney a leader who can be counted on to consistently to give Canadians clear information, hope and fulfil promises?  No. Do we have our freedoms better protected with a Liberal government?  No.  

Do we have more water bomber planes to put out fires so they are addressed faster in Canada to preserve our forests?  No.

Do we have a better trading relationship with the U.S. than before Trudeau and Carney? No. Under the Liberals, trade with our closest trading partner has not been valued. Are criminals being kept in jail or deported immediately? No. Do we want our tax dollars used to bail out developers in B.C.? I would say no.

So what has the Liberal Carney government accomplished for the average Canadian family? Oh Canada, please wake up. We were much better off before the Liberals – both Trudeau and Carney!

‘The gift of time’

Dear Editor:

Creation has given us many gifts. One of these gifts is the gift of time. Maybe the reason we waste so much of it is because it’s free.

If we live to be 75 and sleep eight hours per night, we’ve slept away 25 years of the gift. If you go to a job every day that you don’t enjoy strictly for the material gain, you’ve wasted another 12.5 years of the gift. Try to find something you enjoy and have an ability for and live within the means this provides. We don’t need a mansion, you can only live in one room at a time.

The creation has provided many other gifts to mankind but our insatiable thirst for material goods stops us from appreciating them.

The creation, whether animate or inanimate – big bang theory, UFOs, God, Buddah or whatever – who cares? The gifts have been given and no great saviour will ever materialize to save us from destroying these gifts. That’s mankind’s work and we should start doing our job.

Don’t keep looking for utopia; all the gifts that we need are already here to make utopia. It’s mankind’s choice, no one else’s. It’s about time we started making better choices.
